OSU Research on Tap

Connecting the community.
With a different researcher each month from the sciences, arts and humanities Research on Tap is an opportunity to have a conversation regarding their work and the impact it has on you and your community.
We hope you will join us the third Monday of each month to enjoy some of Stillwater’s own local brew while chatting about some of the interesting research happening here on the OSU campus. The event begins with approximately 20 minutes of conversation between the Vice President of Research and the researcher, followed by questions and answer session with the audience.

From Milk to Aging: What Proteins Teach Us About Health

Scientists often need to study thousands of proteins at once…in cells, tissues, and even milk. Mass spectrometry–based proteomics is the powerful tool that makes this possible. In this installment of OSU Research on Tap, VPR Sewell will talk with Dr. Aryal about how his team applies proteomics to better understand how cells function—both under normal conditions and when they are stressed. Because proteins are essential to keeping our cells working properly, changes in their levels or behavior—whether due to aging, diet, or environmental factors—can affect how our bodies respond to stress and maintain overall health. Dr. Aryal’s research on cellular aging and age‑related diseases will illustrate how modern proteomics is uncovering new perspectives on health and disease.
