Dr. Yuechen Wu, an assistant professor in Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business, researches the impact of social context on our perceptions of consumer recommendations. Her findings indicate solo consumers are often perceived as more interested in an activity and attuned to its quality than accompanied consumers are, therefore holding more influence as reviewers.
